We must build the Marina Mothership

Where were you when the plan for the 25-story apartment complex on the site of the Marina Safeway dropped?

😍😍 😍 😍 Where have you been all my life? This gorgeous hunk of steel and glass would replace the current dumpy Marina Safeway and its parking lot, instantly becoming the Marina’s new main character. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. And they get the Safeway back to boot! What’s not to like.

790 units, 86 of them affordable, all of them presumably equipped with a ring light and tripod for the millions of GRWMs that will be generated therein. This will instantly be the Marina’s most happening spot, and you can take an elevator downstairs for more White Claws and gluten free snacks.

Naturally, everyone is SO MAD. Even Mayor Lurie, who usually supports new housing, is against it because DUH his natural constitutency is rich white people and guess who’s mad about this? Marina Community Association President Eric Kingsbury:

You know what else is low-sluing and walkable? EVERY OTHER FUCKING NEIGHBORHOOD. We have to have more housing somewhere Eric. It’s the Marina’s turn.

The most delicious irony, though, involves former supervisor Aaron Peskin, who hates new housing the way most people hate mosquitos and has dedicated his political career to stopping new construction. He of course is against this:

Oh Scott brought the RECEIPTS. Anyway, new housing in San Francisco is a blood sport and who knows if this Preppy Postgrad Containment Facility will ever be built. But I hope so SO BAD because we desperately need new housing and it will make the worst people in the world mad. Win-win!
